Artists

Kazuo Shiraga
Kazuo Shiraga (1924-2008) is a central member of the Gutai Art Association, which led Japan's postwar avant-garde art movement. He continued to pursue the possibility of physical expression in painting through "foot painting," in which paints are applied to a canvas on the floor with the artist's feet. This exhibition features approximately 80 works by Shiraga, including those in the museum's collection, as well as works by Sadamasa Motonaga, Yoshishige Saito, Masaki Suematsu, Sogen Eguchi, Tatsuoki Nanbata, and others.
