The former Asakanomiya Residence, completed in 1933 (Showa 8), served various roles over time, functioning as the residence of the imperial family, the official residence of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Prime Minister, and a state guesthouse. Preserving its original appearance from construction, the former Asakanomiya Residence not only provides a special and enriching experience as an art museum but also holds the status of a nationally designated important cultural property, serving as a valuable entity that combines both utilization and preservation.

To commemorate the 40th anniversary of its opening, this exhibition aims to thoroughly explore the former Asakanomiya Residence. Drawing on accumulated research and investigations, the exhibition will present key terms from A to Z, each representing aspects such as architectural techniques, the people involved in construction, interior design, materials, and anecdotes from different eras. Visitors are invited to discover new highlights and charms during their visit.
