Former Museum Zoo Station

The building opened in December 1933 as a Keisei Electric Railway Co. station. At the time, the site where the station building was to be constructed was an imperial estate, so its construction was subject to the emperor's approval. Perhaps in consideration of this, the station building was designed in a majestic Western style inside and out. On April 19, 2018, the station was designated as a "Tokyo Metropolitan Government-Designated Historic Landmark,” a first for a railroad facility, for its significant historical value and exterior appearance. In June 2017, new entrance doors designed by Katsuhiko Hibino, Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts at Tokyo University of the Arts, were installed.
