Kiyokawa Taiji Memorial Gallery is a renovation of the residence and studio of Yasuji Kiyokawa, a Western-style painter and sculptor, who set up his residence and studio in the neighborhood of Seijo 2-chome shortly after the war. In accordance with his dying wish to use his property for the promotion of art and culture, his bereaved family donated many of his works, as well as the land and building, to Setagaya Ward. In addition to exhibiting his works and those of other artists associated with the Setagaya Art Museum, the ward has established a "ward residents' gallery" within the facility as a place for the residents to present their cultural activities.
