The Italian Cultural Institute, which has been located in Kudan-Minami, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, near the Imperial Palace since 1959, has been completely rebuilt and reopened after more than 40 years. As an agency of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and one of the 88 Italian cultural institutes in the world, it aims to spread Italian culture in Japan and promote Italian-Japanese cultural exchange. The new building, designed by Italian architect Gae Aulenti, is fully equipped to host a wide range of cultural events and includes a 372-seat hall.
