Ikejiri Institute of Design

IID
This business model, in which the private sector takes the initiative in renovating a public building and manages it on an independent basis, attracted attention from the time it was established as the first example of using a closed school in Tokyo. The renovation work was based on the concept of utilizing the original functions and atmosphere of the school, and even today you can feel the atmosphere of the junior high school as it was then.

Since its establishment, IID has been working in accordance with the guidelines of "industrial promotion," "regional exchange," and "tourism" agreed upon with Setagaya City. Our main activities include providing offices for manufacturing businesses, supporting business startups, providing a place to experience and interact with manufacturing, renting space, and collaborating with the local community. There are also shops and cafes in the building.
