The building housing Chimenkanoya was built in 1988 as a residence and designed by Yutaka Saito. Featured in an architectural magazine, the building attracted much attention and won the Shinkenchiku Award in the same year.

In 1995, "Chimenkanoya" was started in this unique dwelling. The second floor is used as a gallery, with the concept of holding creative exhibitions of paintings, illustrations, photographs, sculptures, ceramics, and other art forms, regardless of genre or theme, in collaboration with artists in progress.
