Takeo Endo
This is a retrospective exhibition of the oeuvre of Takeo Endo (1914- ), featuring 200 major works.
Known for his unique depictions of everyday life, Takeo Endo is an artist residing in Chiba Prefecture. At times critical and serious, and at other times full of love and humor, he has been a keen observer of Japanese society through the postwar period to the present day. The artist’s personal history, of having been born in the liberal Taisho Democratic Era and subsequently suffering in the Great War, is the backbone to his artistic spirit. Honing his awareness and sensitivity through his tumultuous experiences as an art student, art editor, art teacher, soldier, and Chiba city employee, he portrayed the lives of people in various situations.
