This exhibition will be an overview of the bronze print artist Yukio Fukazawa, featuring 180 works. Spanning his entire career, the exhibition will also display his calligraphy and glass paintings.
Yukio Fukazawa (1924-) was born in the Town of Masuho at Yamanashi Prefecture. An aspiring oil painter at first, he turned to bronze prints after suffering a severe injury to his right knee in the Great Tokyo Air Raid. Self-learned after the influence of Tetsuro Komai and Chimei Hamada, he mastered and combined the mezzotint, etching, aquatint, and drypoint techniques in acquiring a unique style of his own.
One of the leading bronze print artists in Japan today, he has resided in Chiba Prefecture since 1950, where he also held his first exhibition in 1955.
