This event has ended.

This winter, the Hara Museum of Contemporary Art celebrates its 25th
anniversary since its foundation. During this time, it has expanded its
holdings to some 850 works of contemporary art by artists from around the
world, dating from the time of the Second World War to the present. To mark
this occasion, a famous work by Maruyama O’kyo (1733-1795), Landscape of
Yodo River (1765), will be shown for the first time at the Hara Museum
(note). This work comprises one of the masterpieces from the collection of
Japanese classical art, which is held by the museum’s operating body, the
Foundation Arc-en-Ciel, and was originally the possession of Rokuro Hara,
the prominent Meiji-era industrialist and great-grandfather of Hara Museum
director Toshio Hara.

Note: Please note that due to its delicate condition, Landscape of Yodo
River will be on display only from December 7 (Tues.) to January 10
(Mon./National holiday), 2005. [Image Credit:Surasi Kusolwong/Small is Beautiful – Floating Market/mixed media/145x220cm/2002]
