Artists

Kenkichi Tomimoto
While producing white porcelain and ceramics using overglaze enamels as well as gold-and-silver ornaments, Kenkichi Tomimoto (1886 - 1963) often visited ceramic centers in various parts of Japan to design vessels for daily use using local materials. Aiming at shedding light on what motivated the great ceramic artist, this exhibition features his pieces designed for mass production that Tomimoto called "inexpensive ceramics for all the people."
