Artists

Korin Ogata, Shunso Hishida, Matazo Kayama,
Typified by Korin Ogata (1658-1716), the Rimpa school created by far the most gorgeous works in modern Japanese art. Comprising selected Rimpa masterpieces as well as those of Shunso Hishida (1874-1911), Matazo Kayama (1927-2004 ) and other painters under the influence of the Rimpa, this exhibition will provide an overview on the 400-year history of the school. Those influenced by the Rimpa school include overseas artists such as Gustav Klimt, and many contemporary artists. This show will comprise about 80 works of approximately 35 artists.
