The First Impressionist Exhibition was held in 1874 at the studio of photographer Nadar at 35 boulevard des Capucines, Paris. It was a completely new type of group exhibition by cutting-edge artists.
More than 30 artists including Monet, Sisley, Renoir, Degas, and Cézanne participated, and 166 works were on display. The group exhibition was held eight times, and the final Impressionist Exhibition of 1886 included Pissarro and the pointillist Seurat, and even symbolists Gauguin and Redon.
Pola Museum of Art will celebrate its third anniversary with an exhibition of the French Impressionists. The exhibition will focus upon the personal interactions between the artists.
