The National Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo
Finished

Artists

Takashi Kono
Best known by his posters for Shochiku Kinema, a major movie production company, Takashi Kono (1906-1999) was a designer whose career almost entirely overlapped with the history of Japanese graphic design. In particular, his work for the magazine NIPPON contributed to innovation in visual expression. This exhibition presents masterpieces of his design at the intersection of iki (stylishness) from the Edo period and the "Showa modern" taste of his time.
