Schoolgirl Life in the Taisho and Showa Eras

Yayoi Museum
Finished

Artists

Kasho Takabatake, Junichi Nakahara et al.
That young maidens flock to the beauty and loveliness is timeless truth; however it was especially during the Taisho and early Showa periods that 'schoolgirl culture' truly blossomed. This was also the era in which Nobuko Yoshiya's "Flower Tale", an immortal tome of juvenile romantic literature, was born.
This exhibition will cover the 'schoolgirl culture' of this period through magazines such as "sho-jo club", "sho-jo-no-tomo", and "rei-jyo-kai", which were popular among Japanese school girls in Taisho and Showa Era. From the popular artists` drawings, truly emotional and romantic aesthetics can be seen.
This is the roots of young culture in Japan, so come enjoy the world of School girls in Taisho and Showa.
