This exhibition focuses on the ideas of "travel" and the "Japanese Beauty", based on the effort to promote the beauty of Japan toward foreign travelers starting in the 1910's. At that time, Japan was said to be the most beautiful country in the world, and the beauty of its nature and traditional culture were renowned among travelers.
On display will be paintings and films that were made for these promotional campaigns. Visitors will be able to enjoy seeing the similarities and differences with the contemporary Japanese tourism.
