The National Museum of Modern Art's Film Centre and the Polish Chamber of Commerce, which is in charge of the Polish pavillion at Aichi's 2005 World Expo, have joined forces to present the "Past and Present of Polish Cinema". This small film festival screens both classic movies as well as contemporary flicks. Originally proposed by Andrzej Wajda, Poland's longtime movie maestro, the project returns after an interval of 15 years. A double focus is laid on the so-called "Polish School" of the glorious fifties on the one hand, and front-line new generation pictures on the other. The twelve movies, carefully selected, all have one thing in common: they are the living proof of Poland's unfailingly rich cinematic culture.
