Artists

Yagi Kazuo
Yagi Kazuo (1918−1979) was born in Kyoto as the first-born son of a ceramist. In 1954, a work with insect-like shapes he had created was, for the first time, recognized as an art object. Through interactions with Isamu Noguchi and Masakazu Horiuchi, and a sensitive observation of the arts created beyond Japanese borders, he became one of Japan's best ceramists. Yagi worked on many types of ceramic objects, many of which could be used in our daily lives.
This exhibition is held as a celebration for the 25th anniversary of his passing. There will be more than 180 works on display, including many glasses and drawings. It will be a great chance to be introduced and follow the footsteps of the ceramist's work after the war.
