Hitoshi Kuriyama et al.
Every August, the museum exhibits "The Foretaste of Forms." Exhibited in the first half of the month is the installation by Kuriyama. Using neon lights and sounds, Kuriyama expresses the surprize and fear that are aroused when light disappears.
The work "Light," for example, stages a neon light about to blow out. It blinks and makes faint sounds, and brings back your own personal memories associated with similar moments.
People experience different kinds of light everyday, like neons, media art, LEDs, and infrared rays; this exhibition also stimulates our imagination as the low-tech devices used in it make us remember light in the old days.
Kuriyama is now at graduate school and researches the relationship between people and things with his art works.
