Outdooring is an exhibition of 6 emerging Australian photo-media artists who depict one of the oldest and most culturally saturated subjects to convey their ideas - the landscape. The photographs in outdooring cannot be considered traditional landscapes, they are more complex investigations of the interplay between nature and culture, which is metaphorically represented by the title of this exhibition. The participating artists all use medium and large format cameras to produce their work. This entails carrying around cumbersome equipment and restricts the number of exposures that can be made. Therefore concepts are often derived after extensive periods of looking and contemplation, what could be considered a mental and physical form of outdooring.
