Harutaka Matsumoto "Grid of Mirror, Four-Color Paintings"

Harutaka Matsumoto
Harutaka Matsumoto's four-motif/four-color paintings are based on a mirror grid. The idea for the mirror grid came up while searching for an authentic way to express a "4-ism". It is made by cutting the image (what the artist calls "a reality") in four pieces, and painting in between the gaps the world in the mirror (the reflection of that reality). Matsumoto's paintings unite those different dimensions and allow them to live as a single entity.
