Artists

Satoshi Hirose
One of the themes that Hirose works with is "travel". Travel is not necessarily an escape from daily life, but it is an act of finding a new daily life. Hirose also works around the theme of "sky". "Blue Box" is a sculpture work that is a summation of Hirose's feelings for the sky. A transparent acrylic box representing a "sky house" and various works --such as photographs of the sky, collages, drawings-- are each contained within four boxes that are inside the acrylic casing. Another work titled "Sky Chronicle" is a box in which there is Lapis lazuli powder, used by Renaissance painter Giotto when drawing skies, and also some postcards selected by Hirose.
The buyer of this work will have to take part in a project called "Making the Sky Travel", in which he will receive slide photographs of the sky from the artist himself four times a year for the next three years. The buyer will have to personally place these slides within the fourth box. This work will therefore be completed by the act of "transit" between the artist and the owner of the work.
