Treasures from Taito City

The University Art Museum - Tokyo University of the Arts
Finished
"History and Culture Through the Properties of Temples and Shrines". There are about 340 temples and 44 shrines in Taito ward. Preserved in the temples and shrines are cultural assets such as sculptures, paintings, historical materials and stone art, that recount the history and the culture of the area.
Cultural assets preservation regulations came into force in Taito ward in July 1987. Since then those assets have been studied with the aim of preserving and putting them in practical use. "Treasures from Taito City" will put on display those assets, following 4 main themes. Hopefully, those assets will let people know more about the history of the ward, as well as the importance of preserving them for the future generations.
