This event has ended.

When Shell Art Award first started in 1956, it stood as one of the most influential art awards at that time. Entering the Heisei era, it was reborn as the Showa Shell Contemporary Art Award, and now in its 2005 edition, the Shell Art Award still aims to discover young talents exhibiting potential in the exploration of contemporary painting.
This year's award saw 1418 entries, and as a result of careful examination, 43 artists were awarded, including 1 grand prize, 3 jury prizes, and 3 encouragement awards.
