Tibetans in the Neighborhood

This event has ended.

Not many Japanese could point out where Tibet is on a map. Interest for Tibet is low and there are only few essays or historical text books which articulate the situations of Tibet today.
Tibet as a nation state does not exist in a de jure sense. Tibet was stripped of its sovereignty to the People's Republic of China when Tibet lost its political cause for independence in the 1950s. However, those who fled from Tibet all over the world are prominent in various fields and still have strong bonds with their own cultural heritage and continue to pass it on to the next generations; and you may find many of those Tibetan living around you. The collection of photographs documents the artist's cultural exchange with them.
