The varied activities of Makoto Wada cannot be restrained by conventional boundaries. Illustrator, graphic designer, picture book author, animator, movie director, lyricist and composer of music, essayist, he is all of these and more.
As its title suggests, this show will focus on the graphic design of Makoto Wada, with exhibits that include posters, logos, book covers, editorial art direction, and packaging sleeves.
Wada insists that designers should avoid asserting themselves and remain in the background. Their job is to always give priority to the viewer, which is who design is for. His challenge is to always keep people freshly wondering about the nature of design.
