Franz Ackermann
Franz Ackermann was born in 1963 in Neumarkt, Germany, and graduated from the Art Academy of Munich in 1988. The theme of his work is related to traveling. Traveling around the world, he has received a variety of personal impressions from each country. The idea of "mobility" which is associated with the act of traveling and "globalization" are inextricably linked to the theme of his work. His work is composed of completely different genres, which together make strong spatial representations. For instance, paintings, drawings, wall paintings, photographs, architectural models, sculptures and other conflicting forms of media and styles are grouped together to express the wide variety of story within his work. Although the techniques that form his work are all basic and traditional, they seem to break down the boundaries between conflicting genres such as painting and architecture, photography and sculpture.
