Philip Popoff
Philip Popoff is an artist working in Sofia in Bulgaria . The artist belongs to the new generation in his country, who have, in the last decade, succeeded to introduce innovative tendency of Bulgarian contemporary art not only to his own country but also to European audience. The new tendency in Bulgaria is characterized by the artists' integration of local artistic environment and new methods developed in international contemporary art scene, such as photo installation, multimedia, and design. Philip Popoff's multiple artistic presentation in Bulgaria and abroad are evidence of his leading position in the current movements in Bulgaria .
The artist works from his creative imagination, uniting the emotional with rational principles. The work shows his quest and ingenuity in this world of confusion, the artist's statement against de-personalization of humankind in this globalizing and rationalizing world. From the works, one may able to find the artist's acceptance of the individual humanity, catering for not by order and meaning, but by creative randomness of chaos.
The exhibition at Art Front Gallery is the first time for his work to be introduced to Asian audience, and it is an important opportunity to see one of the new tendencies in Eastern Europe.
