This event has ended.

In Spring 2003, the artist spent a night at the hospital and was operated due to a sudden illness. After the operation, he could no longer grip his own carving knife. So instead he started scratching empty boxes whilst on his bed. While he was recovering, he changed materials and artistic techniques that suited his new condition. For instance, the boards he was using were no longer wood, but were made out of a combination of medicine bags, strings, and clips. In other words, a “Paper-Cut” artwork. Since the material is paper, it is printed by oil ink. He started producing artworks constantly, everyday, like writing in a diary. In the exhibition, you will be able to see his previous works, his woodcuts, in contrast with the new paper-cuts.
