The Bridgestone Museum of Art devotes itself to the collection and exhibition of European art, in particular, works of Impressionists and 20th century art as well as Japanese western-style paintings from the Meiji and following eras. The museum has continued thereafter to enrich its collection, while striving especially to provide to the visitors an outstanding environment to appreciate its artworks.
In this exhibit of their permanent collection, ancient art from the Middle East, Egypt and the Mediterranean World, and paintings of the european old masters of the 17th-18th centuries are presented. You will also find a number of modern paintings, especially works by Impressionists and Post-Impressionists including Renoir, Monet, Cezanne and Gauguin, as well as works by leading twentieth-century artists such as Picasso, Matisse and Rouault. You will probably appreciate how rich and diverse the european modern paintings are. In addition, the collection of japanese western-style paitings are not only various but powerful: for exemple works of Yasui Sotaro.
