Akira Komoto: Channeling with Nature

Art Front Gallery
Finished

Artists

Akira Komoto
On exhibit are major and new works by artist Akira Komoto. He searches for a suitable spot in the wilderness and then creates an illusional world where nature and things fuse into one by placing painted driftwoods, stones or canvas against the landscapes and photographing the scene. This is his method of artistic production.
At the Echigo-Tsumari Art Triennial 2003 for example, he carried out the "Performance: The Earth's Axis" to help people recognize that the earth is a planet revolving around its North-South axis by recreating parallel lines of airplanes' trails in rainbow-colored ribbon on the ground, extending 300 yards from north to south. It was a moment of great excitement for the witnessing public.
