Jun Yoshida "The Blossoming Flowers of Showa Era Stripshows"

Vanilla Gallery
Finished

Artists

Jun Yoshida
Jun Yoshida (died 2003, age 94) was active as a news photographer with the "Sun Photographic Newspaper" in the postwar period and this exhibition of his photos of strippers is a detailed record of their lives. The photos show the stages and their everyday surroundings, from their point of view. In order to prevent the authorities from censoring the exhibition, the works on show are a mix of nude poses in frames and the unmade-up faces of legendary strippers - giving the show a historical worth.
