Ashley Rawlings
Ashley Rawlings is a photographer and installation artist living and working in Tokyo. His photographic work depicts quiet scenes in which people appear suspended in the interplay of light, time and space. Over the past year, using a combination of film-based and digital photographic techniques, he has increasingly manipulated the source of light in the images, creating a world even more silent and psychologically isolated than in his previous works.
The works on show in this exhibition are almost all from his recent 'Recurrence Series', taken in Japan. These photographs depict a world of uneasy quiet, devoid of people: images which feel like half-remembered dreams or distant memories.
The exhibition being held in two parts, with different works on show in each part:
Part One: Thursday 1st - Thursday 15th June
Part Two: Friday 16th - Friday 30th June.
