Artists

Shintaro Suzuki
Shintaro Suzuki is a Western-style painter who paints charming, seemingly naive paintings with vivid colours. Active in the Nikakai in both the prewar and postwar periods, he established the Ichiyokai and is known as one of Japan's greatest Western-style painters. This exhibition takes approximately 100 works from the museum's collection, spanning his career from his early period to the last years of his life, including large-scale sketches, watercolours and book illustrations that will be on show for the first time.
