Ira Waxberg
The title of this show, a combination of the words "mold" and "graph" as in "photograph" is a word made up by the artist. In 2005, Waxberg and his father, who is also an artist, found a set of photographic slides taken from the 1960s to the 1970s in a space under the family home. Their state of preservation was very bad, the surfaces of the slides were covered in mold, and they retained none of their orginal appearance. For this exhibition, Waxberg is exhibiting these slides, unrestored, so viewers can appreciate for themselves their beauty. With them are Waxberg's bold, surprising new works, made powerful due to the erosion of the mold over time.
