Artists

Olafur Eliasson
Eight new works by Olafur Eliasson will be displayed in Japan for the first time, including kaleidoscope and lamp-shaped installations, photograph works, and samples from recent projects.
Berlin-based Danish artist Olafur Eliasson (born 1967 in Denmark) gained international attention with "Beauty", an installation work that features a rainbow created with artificial mist. In Japan, "Your Light Shadow" held at Hara Museum of Contemporary Art was such a big hit that the exhibition was extended.
Eliasson is known for re-creating natural phenomenons with relatively simple devices. These phenomenons can be experienced by anybody, with no relevance to cultural background or age. Eliasson has said in a past interview that by realizing the visual he creates is artificial, he wants people to ask themselves if what they see with their eyes is truthful or not.
His message for this exhibition, "nothing is permanent", is expressed through works exploiting the infinite form of light and colors.
