This exhibition presents paintings by Monet, Renoir, Modigliani and Picasso from the Cleveland Museum, in Ohio State, whose collection of over 40,000 works is one of the leading collections in the whole of the United States.
This show presents sixty contemporary works from this collection, fifty of which are being exhibited in Japan for the first time. Visitors will be able to see paintings by the Impressionists, Post-Impressionists, and works by the trailblazers of modern sculpture, all illustrating the development of 20th century modern art in the West.

1章の「印象派の時代」は典型的印象派チックな絵画よりも少し時代をずらした絵画が多め。2章の「後期印象派」では、パリ訪れたてのピカソの作品が興味深かった。最近のマイブームは西洋近代美術・絵画運動なので興味深く鑑賞できた。「へえー、こんな作品も描いてたのかあ」。意外?とまでではないけど、ちょっと新しい発見があった。
