AITIA Open Lab. Symposium Vol.1 "Future Store, Future Media"

BankArt Studio NYK
Finished
We are living in a media communications era of the Super Senses, that can no longer survive merely with our natural physical senses and linguistic abilities. With the advent of new media technologies, our media experiences and values regarding living space, market space and public space are changing dramatically. Furthermore, revolutions in computer sciences that are based on reality rather than the virtual, such as ubiquitous computing and ipv6, will no doubt bring more hyper-real spaces to our everyday environments. In such an era, media artists have explored various new, alternative ways of expressions via these new technologies. Some have moved out of the field of museums and galleries to actual market and public spaces, in order to pursure new media expressions that conflict with the physical and perceptual senses of contemporary people. In Japan, new business units are emerging - new generations of people who are artists, designers, researchers, engineers, business-people all in one.
