"Centennial Memorial: Paul Renouard in the Collection of Hayashi Tadamasa" Exhibition

Tokyo National Museum
Finished

Artists

Paul Renouard
Tadamasa Hayashi (1953-1906) is one of the most important figures in the development of Japonism in Europe, as well as in the history of late 19th century Japanese art and crafts. Charles Paul Renouard (1845-1924), was one of the most successful painters and illustrators of his time, and Hayashi organized an exhibition of his prints and drawings in 1894 in Paris.
The Hayashi family donated the works in this exhibition to the Tokyo National Museum, and so for Hayashi's Centennial, this exhibition will present this collection of works by Renouard.
