Ukiyoe Masterpieces from the Musée Guimet Collection

The Musée Guimet in Paris was (1836-1918) established by industrialist Emile Guimet in 1889 and handed over to the state in 1928. Since 1945, the museum has acted as the Asian department to the Louvre and has one of the largest collections of Asian art in the world.

This collection has never had a chance to be exhibited at the same time and includes numerous treasures. The discovery that Katsushika Hokusai's "Dragon" in Guimet's collection is the twin to the Ota Memorial Museum of Art's "Tiger" has gone down in art history as one of the greatest.

This exhibition will display a selection of 190 ukiyoe works from the Musée Guimet.
