Mika Ninagawa "Everlasting Flowers 2"

Tomio Koyama Gallery Roppongi
Finished

Artists

Mika Ninagawa
An exhibition of 20 large works and 60 small works portraying imitation flowers placed in cemeteries, which is a common practice in countries with strong sunlight like Mexico, Guam and Saipan. The flowers in elementary colors seem to be full of life under the glittering sun. The aggressive color scheme reflects the drama of life and death. The photographs are new works by Mika Ninagawa, who has been enamored with this motif since encountering them in 2000.

Works from this exhibition will be published in "Everlasting Flowers" by Shogakukan.

"Everlasting Flowers 1" is being held in conjunction at Tokyo Wonder Site Shibuya from November 11th - 26th.
