Artists

Takashi Kuribayashi
Takashi Kuribayashi is an artist who has been active all over the world, particularly in Germany, and currently runs a studio in Zushi, Japan. Participating in the Singapore Biennale 2006 with Yayoi Kusama and Hiroshi Sugimoto has made him one of the most spotlighted young artists of today.

Using the motif of small animals like seals and penguins, he makes works that explore the concept of "boundaries". Kuribayashi draws on his experience as a diver and makes use of wetsuit material to explore the "boundaries" between interior and exterior, past and present, ruins and cities. His works draw the viewer in and expose them to a visual world that differs from everyday scenery.

This event is being held in other locations in Kamakura as part of the "Root Culture" series of events. See the event website for details (Japanese only).
