Itabashi Art Museum celebrates the life of Taisei Sato who passed away on November 6, 2004, just four days before his 91st birthday.
Taisei Sato was born in Kyoto in 1913, and moved to Tokyo when he was 18 to become an artist. After being awarded for 'Kasumi-mo' at the Sixth Shin-Bunten, he continued to work mainly with Nitten. In 1945, he moved to Ohtaniguchi in Itabashi Ward, where he would spend the rest of his life.
Sato's work dealt mainly with landscapes and Japanese paintings of flowers and birds. His 'Journey series' is particularly well known.
44 paintings covering his career, from 'Kasumi-mo' to his older works, and 10 sketches will be displayed. A corner recreating his atelier will also be exhibited.
