Ota Memorial Museum of Art
Finished

Artists

Eizan Kikukawa, Eisan Keisai
While the art world in the early 19th century was divided into the Utagawa School and the Katsushika School, Eizan Kikukawa and his pupil, Eisan Keisai established their own school.

With his elegant paintings of beautiful women with doll-like features, Kikukawa was a leader of the next generation of 'bijinga' painters, following the tradition of Utamaro Kitagawa and Eishi Chobunsai. He educated many disciples and is known as the founder of the Kikukawa School. Keisai is also a famed bijinga painter, but his sense of aesthetics have a vibrant energy that reflects the end of Edo Period.

130 works will be displayed in two parts:
Part One: November 1st - November 26th
Part Two: December 1st - December 10th
