Ingo Maurer "Light: Reaching for the Moon"

Tokyo Opera City Art Gallery
Finished

Artists

Ingo Maurer
This is the first solo exhibition in Japan for Ingo Maurer (b. Germany, 1932- ), who has been the focus of attention from fashion designer Issey Miyake and architect Jean Nouvel. Aiming to make visitors experience "light and space" the exhibition brings together works from his early period to his recent installations using LED technology - representing 40 years' worth of work.
His work is not simply about lighting appliance design, but by using the fundamental qualities of light in a creative and original way, it represents the meeting point between design and art.
