Maarten Bass was born in Germany in 1978, and has lived in various places in Holland since then. The "Smoke Collection", his Salon debut, propelled him to international fame. It is a series of furniture that has been burned and melted down to its bare essentials and then coated with epoxy resin. The collection will be displayed at this exhibition, along with a new series called "Clay Furniture" and stools that were designed in collaboration with Dutch felt-designer Claudy Jongstra.
