Yosuke Natori
It is said that the 1930s was the age when photography was used to a great extent. The original layout of photocollages was the focus of great attention the world over and featured in Graph Magazine as well as in special exhibitions. Having studied in Germany, photographer Yonosuke Natori (1910-1962) brought this cutting edge trend to Japan and in 1931, he set up the "Nippon Studio", a photography and design workshop. This was where he got together with other photographers and designers like Takashi Kono and Yusaku Kamekura to create "Nippon" magazine. Translated into English, German, French and Spanish, during World War Two, this magazine was the top publication from Japan, and was widely distributed abroad.

Centered around "nippon" magazine, this exhibition presents the entirety of Yonosuke Natori and Nippon Studio's photographic and design work. It is the first large-scale exhibition of its kind, comprising of some 400 magazines, publications and other works.
