Bye, Bye Nam June Paik
This event has ended.
At Watari-um, The Watari Museum of Contemporary Art
Media: Installation, Video installation, Art Talk
In Soho during the 1960s, a small young man of Asian descent walked down Mercer Street with a video recorder in his hands. He spoke fluently in many language and conversed in depth of music and philosophy with New York's intellectuals. In time, the world would come to know his name: Nam June Paik.
Watari-um, who supported Paik for over thirty years, is now holding a requiem exhibition in his memory. He passed away on January 29th at the age of 73.
There will be an intensive series of workshops and talks/performances held during the exhibition. Please check the website for further details.

Reviews
Nam June Paik's Video and Other Media
Having been trained in classical music and aesthetics, how did Nam June Paik come to be referred to as "the father of video art"?

"Bye-Bye, Nam June Paik," the current exhibition at the Watari-Um Museum of Contemporary Art, is a loving tribute to an artist who has always been close to that Aoyama art space's heart...
