Birth of Towers: Tachu Naito and a Tale of Three Towers

LIXIL Gallery 1 & 2
Finished

Artists

Tachu Naito
Since the beginning of time, people have built towers in search for a better view. As a place to look over town or as a landmark in its own right, towers are works of architecture that characterize the towns in which they are situated.
Tokyo, Nagoya and Osaka have unique towers, and all three of these towers were designed by one man, Chuta Naito. Known as the 'tower doctor', Naito built these steel towers while literally taking Japan's earthquake resistant structure theories to new heights. This exhibition takes a look at Naito's triumphs and the evolvement of three towers that have been with us for over half a century.
