Paul Davis "Heidi-Land-Ku"

Nanzuka Underground
Finished

Artists

Paul Davis
The UK artist Paul Davis is bringing the Alps to Nanzuka Underground in a series of drawings, prints and photographs. The Alps are high, cold, pure, mountainous, open, fresh and clear while a basement in Tokyo in the hot summer is the exact opposite - so with the AC turned up full, it could turn out to be an interesting experience. Odd things exist in the Alps - unexpected things like a model of a Balinese dancer, antlers employed as a toilet-roll holder, or a really weird rabbit holding a shovel. Davis spent time wandering around drawing and taking photographs wondering why the Alps seemed so un-Alpish to him and it made him smile with wonderment...
